Enjoy the serenity of the garden before heading to the Shanghai Museum of Ancient Chinese Art, via some beautiful historic residential buildings. Discover ancient bronze and jade relics, traditional calligraphy and historical sculptures while exploring the museum’s sprawling wings. Visit the Jade Buddha Temple next, learn about Buddhist culture and see two rare statues. From here, travel to The Bund to view European architecture, still intact from the ear of European concessions. The excursion finishes in Xin Tian Di, a vibrant entertainment and dining area.

The Hungpu River snakes through central Shanghai, dividing the city into Pu Dong to the East, and Pu Xi to the West. Join a boat and glide down the river on a night cruise, watching Shanghai’s famous lights make both riverbanks come alive. Float past The Bund, where high-end restaurants and picturesque bars have sprung up in historical European buildings. The cruise alights at Pu Dong where a final visit to the modern Lujiazui area provides another memorable experience. Featuring a Qing dynasty Post Office, historical architecture and old-fashioned spice stores, a trip around the town is a fascinating cultural experience. Connected by canals and rivers, the best way to explore the quaint stores, gardens and pagodas is by boat. Dian Shan Lake is a particular highlight.

SHANGHAI TOWER AND MUSEUM

Next, head to Guanfu Museum, also situated in Shanghai Tower. Originally a private collection, the museum boasts over 500 artifacts including Song dynasty ceramics, Buddhist statues and ancient textiles. You are welcome to explore the museum in your own time from here, or make a final stop along the Lujiazui Promenade to take in more contemporary architecture before driving back with the group.
